Living with lung cancer has taught Jules to focus on what matters most
Jules was diagnosed with tennis elbow and sciatica before discovering that lung cancer was the real cause of her pain
I'm Jules, and I'm a 41 year old mum who loves to travel. When I'm not exploring new places, I'm happiest at home with my fur babies.
In 2021, after months of dealing with persistent pain, I was finally diagnosed with EGFR+ Stage 4 lung cancer. The diagnosis didn’t come easily; initially, I was told my symptoms were due to tennis elbow or sciatica. It took persistence and further tests before I got the answers I needed.
The signs were subtle at first - a hoarse voice, a lump in my neck, and pain that just wouldn’t go away in my shoulder. Despite being a non-smoker, I was eventually diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. The shock was real, but I knew I had to keep moving forward for myself and my family.
On the 1st August my diagnosis changed from NSCL to SCL cancer, this ended my journey with Osimertinib and switched to chemotherapy & immunotherapy. I still live in hope and read of new treatment lines and clinical trials being successful in our community.
Living with cancer has taught me to focus on what matters most. I continue to enjoy my holidays when I can manage them, and I love every moment at home with my family and much loved pets.
